Munchkin has gained unprecedented fame in the days following Halloween. Dog lovers and non-dog lovers alike have shared this video hundreds and hundreds of times!  In fact, this costume is so good that many of you will want to go right out and buy this costume for your dog.  But hold on, this is a made at home costume!  But don’t fret, my friends – it’s not as tricky as you might think.

How to Make a Bear Costume just like Munchkin the Shih Tzu’s:

(Directions taken right directly from the description under Munchkin’s very own you tube video!)

1. Measure your dog in the front from feet to top of head (Munchkin is 14″).

2. Buy a teddy bear in similar color to your dog in their size (Munchkin’s Mom got hers on Amazon for $30).

3. Cut the face off, cut the bottom of the feet off, and cut open the back.

4. Take all the stuffing out except for the stuffing in the arms. The bear will only be put on your dog’s body/legs in the front and back half of your dog will remain exposed/uncovered.

5. Put a string or velcro through the back behind the neck to tie/close. The bear’s arms hung down, so Munchkin’s Mom sewed them up a bit higher so they stuck out to sides more instead of hanging down.

It took Munchkin’s Mom about 15 minutes to make!Well?? What are you waiting for! Go buy a teddy bear and you too can have a “Munchkin” teddy bear of your very own!
